We’ve taken the time to research and hopefully address some of the common concerns from our current and potential buyers. Here are some of the top myths related to second-hand devices and how we resolve them.

 

Second-hand equals damaged

While the quality of most second-hand devices may be questionable, we take great pride in the quality and functionality of our devices. Every device goes through a thorough 32-step check to ensure 100% functionality and a battery health of at least 80%. Only devices with very minor scratches and dents make it to our store, and devices that are good-as-new qualify for an Excellent grade.

You won’t get the latest models

Shop.CompAsia actually carries some of the latest models, trailing only a few months from the release date of many newly launched devices. Second-hand means it’s stolen

A large majority of our devices are actually sourced from our partners. Our partners include telcos (like Maxis, Celcom, Digi), original manufacturers (like Apple, Samsung, Oppo) and retailers (like SenHeng, Switch and Machines). We also offer direct trade-ins, getting used devices from everyday consumers. 

The devices are then checked through their IMEI number to ensure that they are responsibly sourced and not stolen.  


Second-hand does not come with warranty 

Every device from shop.compasia comes with a 1 month warranty that can be extended to 12 months. We are also an establishment, meaning we will be reachable even after we’ve sold any device to you. 

This is an important factor that sets us apart from individual sellers or small shops that places the risk of purchase on the customer.


Second-hand may not be safe

Because a device has been used by someone else before, some may have the lingering fear that there may be residual programs that could put the new user in danger. This may be true to second-hand device sellers who simply perform a factory reset on their devices.

Second-hand means that the device is as-is. Every part is original as intended by the manufacturer. A pro-tip would be to ask your seller if the device has been refurbished and if so, what parts and where does that part come from.
